I'm very special to my adoptive momma... her momma (my adoptive gramma) bought me for her on June 9, 1999, the second anniversary of her fiance's death [EXTERNAL].

My mission is simple. Be a good dog and best companion to my new momma. I have scored a perfect 10 so far!

I am white, black and brown. I have a black and white tail, and I have a big black smudge around my nose. It looks like I dipped my snoot in ink! I have one blue eye and one brown eye... see!!!

My momma thinks I'm very photogenic. What do you think?

ODE TO CLAUDIA   by Larry Sonny Lopez

(to the tune of "He Ain't Heavy, He's my Brother)

  My dog is longggggg
with many a floppy ear
that drags on the floor
sweeping the dust, I sold my broom
She aint heavy, she's my puppy!
so on I go......

I need a pet goat
to cut the grass for me
tie him in the yard
my lawnmower is broke
She aint heavy, shes my mower
so on I go

I can hardly contain my excitement about the year 2000!!!

bleh.jpg (13669 bytes)I may look depressed all of the time, but I assure you, I'm one happy-go-lucky pup behind this long face.  But, if you suspect you've got a depressed doggie that needs to find his/her inner puppy, I recommend this book:

cover

Here's an excerpt:  "That's when my vet suggested Prozac -- and now, poring over my diary from that turbulent year, it's hard to believe everything that happened as I struggled to get in touch with my Inner Puppy. But in the end, a little pill wrapped in bologna taught me truths about happiness we can all share: how to pick yourself up when you feel down in the snout; how to love the sound of your own bark."

I have been very busy keeping my new momma laughing, playing, and ... oops!!! ... cleaning up puddles. (But I'm getting better).

I was 7 1/2 lbs. when I came home. 3 weeks later, I weighed 11 pounds.   My ears are growing longer and longer.  They get a bath every time I drink.

Update:  November 11, 1999:  I'm 6 months old, and I already weigh 35 pounds!

Update:  February 2, 2000:  My Momma has started calling me "PORKY"

My Favorite Pasttimes:

Men
First and foremost, I love male humans.  Female humans are ok, but male humans make me get all wiggly.
My favorite men in the whole world are my momma's friends:  Robert, Justin, and the Terminix man who let's me track down all the bugs with him.
Food & Drink
Drinking from the toilet.
Sticking my head in the refridgerator.
Eating soap.
"Burying" my chewy goodies in every corner of my house.
Eating spaghetti noodles momma hangs across my snoot.
Eating grass.
Trash Compacting
Shredding paper products.
Bringing pinecones and mulch chips in the house for tearing up into little bitty pieces.
Popping bubble wrap.
Helping Around the House
Helping my momma load the dishwasher.
Making the rugs more comfy by bunching them up.
Security Dog Duties
Barking at that dog that looks just like me on the other side of the front glass door.
Protecting my momma from the vacuum monster.
Keeping Momma Feeling Wanted and Needed
Putting my sad face on my momma's feet while she's getting ready to leave for work.
Going to the cemetery with Momma and carrying bouquets of flowers around in my mouth.
Not letting Momma oversleep (ever).
